The new website is live. You’ve had an internal celebration for the launch, champagne and all. Think you’re done? Not so much. Iterate. Evolve. Your website should be a living, breathing representation of your organization. Gone are the days of one and done. Technology evolves, buyer behavior changes – so, why doesn’t your website? If you are not adding new content to your website weekly and evolving your functionality and user experience, you’re going to watch your competitors take the lead.

I recently attended a leadership event and two of the three speakers touched on neuroplasticity. Simply put, it’s the ability of the brain to change throughout an individual’s life. So, what does neuroplasticity have to do with marketing and brand leadership? In order for marketers to connect with new audiences, a change in thinking must occur with that new audience. If it’s a new product or service, the change is making people aware that there is a new solution to their issue or problem. The messaging needs to educate, inspire and impact in a way that changes minds and impacts the heart. So, what actions are you taking to ensure your messaging is creating the change you want?

When is the last time you listened to a podcast, read a book or attended a workshop? Just because you’ve been doing something for a long time, does not make you an expert in that subject. Brand leaders know that the secret to remaining relevant is to lean into the discomfort of the unknown. They continue to learn new technology, new skills and new perspectives. Consequently, they know how to adapt to the dynamic marketplace and anticipate change. If you hear yourself saying, “this is the way I’ve always done it,” it’s a good sign to invest your time and energy into something new. Who knows, you may find a better way AND have fun doing it.

If I asked your leadership team, “Where is your organization going?” Would they all say the same thing? If the answer is no, stop what you are doing because it really doesn’t matter. Ensuring your team is working toward the same goal is crucial to maintaining a leadership position in your space. Imagine the possibility of creating the extraordinary IF everyone is unified and aligned on one BIG powerful vision.

Can you fly a plane? I can’t and I know that I would want an expert to pilot my next flight. Sometimes you get so caught up in the day-to-day, you think you can cover all the bases and do everything. How is that working for you? Brand Leaders use experts to tackle specific areas that are outside of their skillset. Experts can dig deep, not just scratch the surface, and provide that needed insight to really make a difference. Stop “trying” to do it all and hire what you’re not.

You are in the airport and you see a familiar looking photo draped across the pathway down to baggage claim. You realize you’ve seen it before…wait, it was used in your last creative campaign. FAIL. Audiences demand authenticity and there is no better way to capture this than through the use of custom photography designed with your brand’s specific goals and objectives in mind. There is a difference between a pretty picture and one that is captured with the essence of a strategic, compelling message. Brands using custom photography have the power to create differentiation and unique identity. Why be a me-too brand and look like the rest, when you can “own” your own brand?

Pride. Peace. Confidence. Comfort. Joy. These are all emotions that, when felt, have the power to move. Does your marketing make people feel? Or does it just provide information? With the barrage of marketing messages we encounter every day, there are only a few that really “get me.” Don’t waste people’s time, or even worse, your own time, creating more useless content. Dig in, uncover the jewels, share only messages that move people.
